Vienna 2018

A long weekend trip late in the year to Austria's capital city. Full of history, charm and coffee shops, also including a visit to the magnificent Schoenbrunn Palace which was the main summer residence of the Hapsburg rulers. The palace was named after an artesian well which supplied water to the royal court. The present palace was built and remodelled in the 1740's by empress Maria Theresa who received the estate as a wedding present from emporeror Franz I. The building is based on an earlier structure dating from the 1690's.
